How does valve work?Cast steel swing check valves operate via a straightforward, automatic mechanism to prevent reverse flow in industrial pipelines. At their core is a cast steel body housing a hinged disc, mounted on a pin to swing freely in the direction of flow.
When forward flow occurs, media pressure (liquid, gas, or steam) pushes against the disc, lifting it open to create an unobstructed path. This allows efficient fluid passage with minimal pressure drop, as the disc swings fully to align with the flow direction.
If flow reverses, gravity and reverse pressure act on the disc, causing it to swing back into a closed position.
